Wednesday Under a Log Investigators

Yesterday we compared and contrasted Dragonflies and Damselflies.  This morning we created one from popsicle sticks that we prepped Tuesday afternoon.  We made sure to include the veins that make their wings so strong and loving how their wings sparkle in the light, our wings are sparkly too!

After reading a beautiful picture book that helped us focus on what creatures we may find living in, on, under and around a log we were off on another adventure!!
A caterpillar!

Slug Central

Wait!  There are eggs too!

What can we find?

A large spider!

An on the go slug!

Working together helps us find

Another spider!

A Colony of ants is fascinating to watch!

Especially when they are carrying around pupas

Snail sharing

We will bring him back to observe

A millipede gathering

No one home up there either

Working as a team

Our most favorite find!  A female toad!

She should come visit with us for a while.

Indian Pipe Fungus

A spider carrying an egg sac

Gross Motor in the Gym Break!

Each of us brought back a special leaf that we pressed into a Sculpey medallion.  Look for them to come home soon!

We were so lucky to find some great looking snails.  We made some of our own from Model Magic and liquid watercolor!

The "Bug Lady" came!!  Wow, she taught us a lot and let us hold some great Creepy Crawlies!!

A lot larger than the millipedes we've been seeing outside!

Finally we are enthralled by an Ananzi story
